Man Beaten To Death On South Side Street
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Police are investigating the death of a man in his 40s who was beaten by a group early Sunday morning on the South Side.
Authorities still have not identified the man.
Police say that about 3 a.m. Sunday, the man and a friend left another man's home - and, while they were on the 7900 block of South Greenwood Avenue, they were approached by another man who asked to use the friend's cell phone.

The friend said no - and then a fight started, police say, as other men - possibly as many as five - joined in.
At some point, the man with the cell phone ran for help and the man in his 40s was ultimately beaten to death.
A police spokesman says authorities are hoping security videos from businesses in the area will help in the investigation.
An autopsy is set for Monday.
