CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was found shot to death in a park in the South Side Gresham neighborhood early Thursday.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old James Yates of the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, a Cook County Medical Examiner's spokeswoman said.

Yates was found shot in the head in Foster Park in the 1400 block of West 84th Street about 2:40 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy on Thursday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating, but no one was in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
