1 Man Killed, Another Injured In Shooting Near South Side Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting overnight in the South Side's Longwood Manor neighborhood near Euclid Park.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 9700 block of South Wallace Street.

Jebb Williams, 52, who lived on the block, was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Another man, also in his 50s, was shot in the arm and is in good condition at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The block where the shooting happened borders most of the length of Euclid Park, and is a just stone's throw north of the west leg of Interstate 57.

No one was in custody early Wednesday in the shooting, Gaines said.
