Man Arrested After Police Chase In South Shore Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 26-year-old man is in custody after abducting his ex-girlfriend and leading police on a more than one-mile chase on the South Side.

Officers responded at 11:08 p.m. to the 7600 block of South Colfax Avenue, where the man had forced his ex-girlfriend into a vehicle, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The man sped away and led police on a pursuit before he crashed at 7141 S. Jeffery Blvd., Alfaro said.

The man was arrested and charges are pending, Alfaro said. No injuries were reported.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
