Two Shot, One Fatally, In West Englewood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people were shot – one fatally – in the West Englewood neighborhood early Sunday, police said.

The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. at 63rd Street and Winchester Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

A 20-year-old man was dead on the scene, inside a vehicle, with a gunshot wound to the head, Gaines said. Darius Parish, of 7844 S. Spaulding Ave., was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was shot at 6229 S. Damen Ave., according to the medical examiner's office.

A 19-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to an arm and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, Gaines said.

Police did not immediately know how the shooting took place.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
