Two Kids Rescue 10-Year-Old Boy From Pond

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (CBS) -- A 10-year-old boy who fell waist-deep into a neighborhood pond Sunday afternoon in unincorporated Arlington Heights was rescued by two children.

The Long Grove Fire Protection District was called to the scene at 4030 Bonhill Dr. at 3:42 p.m., but officials told WBBM Newsradio everyone was out of the water when crews arrived.

Officials say a girl and a teenaged boy helped to pull the 10-year-old boy to safety.

The 10-year-old was transported to a local hospital in good condition, suffering from hypothermia.

The girl was treated and released on the scene, and the other boy - who did not go into the water- was not injured.

Officials are reminding everyone that the temperatures outside have not allowed for the ice to get thick enough to walk on, just yet.
