Letters To Santa Piling Up At Post Office

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Letters to Santa are piling up at Chicago's Main Post Office, waiting for an attentive helper to answer them.

U.S. Postal Service spokesman Mark Reynolds said that with Christmas next weekend, time is running out.

"Santa needs a little bit of help this year because more than 15,000 Chicagoans have written him with their Christmas wishes," Reynolds said.

While the number of letters is steady, Reynolds said there have been fewer helpers.

"We've got the Operation Santa station up and running," he said.

Those seeking to help Santa out can read through letters and find ones appropriate to answer.

Reynolds would like to have presents on their way by Tuesday or Wednesday. But he said Santa now likes gift cards, some of which you can buy at the post office.
