CHICAGO (CBS) -- Unseasonably pleasant temperatures in the 50s will give way Monday afternoon to conditions more typical for this time of year as a cold front comes through. Expect the 40s for the afternoon.

Overnight, the low drops to 30 as the cold front pushes down from the northwest, and conditions will be cloudy, but dry, until a rain-snow mix moves in on Tuesday, reports CBS 2 Meteorologist Mary Kay Kleist.

Rest of Monday:
Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s, then temperatures falling into the 40s this afternoon. West winds 10 to 15 mph shifting north.

Monday Night:
Mostly cloudy. Lows around 30. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday:
Cloudy. Chance of snow or rain and freezing rain in the morning...then a chance of rain or snow in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s. East winds around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

Tuesday Night:
Cloudy. Chance of rain in the evening...then rain likely after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. East winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
