CHICAGO (CBS) — It’s getting down to the wire for people trying to finish their Christmas shopping.

WBBM Newsradio’s Regine Schlesinger talked with some of them at Macy’s State Street store.

Tim from London was shopping for holiday gifts at the store, and conceded that he always waits until the last moment.

“It’s not as busy as I thought, but I guess it’s still early in the day,” he said. “I only have three or four gifts to buy, so not too bad.”

Macy’s spokeswoman Andrea Schwartz says two Chicago area stores, in Oak Brook and at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, are staying open around the clock until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

“A lot of people have third-shift jobs, or they just have a different schedule, and it accommodates them,” she said.

One shopper picking up a few stocking stuffers says this year, she did almost all her shopping with a click of a mouse. She said she has discovered that online shopping is just easier.
