Latest Chicago Weather Forecast

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Rain will continue off and on through the afternoon as a stubborn system circulates around a low-pressure area.

Roads could be slick as the day goes on, and the high reaches 43 degrees, reports CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros.

A few flurries may develop overnight as the temperature drops to 30. And on Saturday, you might feel more like donning a costume and going trick-or-treating than breaking out the champagne and noisemakers, as the New Year's Eve high tops out at 47 degrees with sunny skies and breezy conditions.

But just you wait. When the warm front moves out, temperatures will drop off a cliff. By Monday 'twill be January, and it will feel like it too – with a high of a mere 24 degrees.

And the seven-day forecast tells us the high won't break out of the 20s for the rest of the week after Sunday. But skies will be mostly sunny every day.
