Dead Newborn Found In Trash Bin

Updated 1/2/12 - 3:47 p.m.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (STMW) -- The Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services is investigating an allegation of abuse against a young woman whose one-day old baby boy was found dead in a trash bin Sunday night in south suburban Country Club Hills.

Baby boy Johnson was found in a trash bin at 17895 Huntleigh Court in Country Club Hills and was pronounced dead at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest at 8:17 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy on Monday was inconclusive, pending the police investigation, the medical examiner's office said.

DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said the agency is investigating an allegation of abuse against the mother but has had no prior contact with the family. Two other children have been removed from the home and are in the care of relatives.

The mother is believed to be very young and it's unclear whether she suffered a miscarriage or whether any foul play was involved in the death, he said.

Country Club Hills police are investigating but could not be reached for comment Monday.
