Latest Chicago Weather Forecast

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Christmas was less than two weeks ago, but you could easily be fooled into thinking it's late April, as the temperature nears a record high for this wintertime date.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros expects the high Friday to reach 54 degrees, with sunny skies remaining throughout the day. Some outlying areas, such as Peru, might see 58 degrees.

The record for this date was set in 2008, when the high hit 60.

A cold front passes through later in the day, but the temperatures will still be in the above average range afterward. The overnight low is 35, and the high Saturday is a still-pleasant 42.

The next day when temperatures return to levels typical for this time of year is Thursday, when the high is 30.

until Wednesday either.
