Boasting more than 130 years of rich history, Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin is a Midwest landmark that has served as a popular destination for both Chicagoans and Midwesterners alike for generations. The locally owned Lake Lawn Resort is a full-service leisure getaway, family retreat and convention facility on more than 275 wooded lakeside acres in Wisconsin's Geneva Lakes region. Located along two miles of picturesque shoreline, Lake Lawn Resort is the only property of its kind just 90 minutes from Chicago.
Lake Lawn has historically been sacred ground, from 600-1200 A.D. when descendants of the Late Woodland Indians first walked its shoreline to the 19th century when Delavan hosted 26 different circuses including the Mabie Brothers between 1847-1895. Today, people still visit the storied grounds seeking an escape from the busyness of everyday living.
Lake Lawn began its tradition as a premier vacation retreat in 1878. Since its opening, travelers from Chicago and Milwaukee flocked to Delavan Lake's shady beaches for refreshment and relaxation. As its popularity grew, so did its accommodations. In 1929, Lake Lawn erected a unique ballroom, which hosted big band dance music and many of the nation's top orchestras during the 1930s and 1940s. With an array of four-season activities, seasonal special event packages, and first-rate amenities, Lake Lawn has continued attracting guests throughout the decades.
In December of 2010, Lake Lawn closed. The loss of one of Wisconsin's most iconic landmarks was felt not only in the surrounding Walworth County community, but also throughout the region. In the spring of 2011, a team of local investors brought new hope to the Lake Lawn community by purchasing the property. By July 22, 2011, upgrades were completed and the guest rooms and most of the resort amenities were back up and running. Today, the rebirth of Lake Lawn draws thousands of monthly overnight guests and the resort offers everything from family-friendly entertainment to a wide selection of activities for corporate retreats and events.
Lake Lawn prides itself on having the preeminent selection of luxury guestrooms and suites, 281 in total, offering lake views and the ability to sleep up to six comfortably. Rooms are complemented by 22 meeting venues totaling 32,000 square feet of meeting space overlooking Delavan Lake and indoor and outdoor activities ranging from a lakeside 18-hole golf course, full service spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and tennis courts to a kids activity center, variety of water sports, miniature golf, and more. Lake Lawn is home to a 165-slip marina offering pontoon and speedboat rentals. The resort's premier Frontier Restaurant features special event breakfast buffets and American heartland cuisine throughout the day. Plus, Lake Lawn offers a deli and Lookout Bar and Eatery, perfect for pub fare and game-day viewing parties.
