Wheeling Restaurant Closes On Concerns Of Illnesses

WHEELING, Ill. (CBS) -- A popular restaurant in the northwest suburbs has been closed for most of the day because the Cook County Health Department says there have been concerns about gastrointestinal illness.

Bob Chinn's Crab House in Wheeling was closed after customers reported illnesses that might be linked to the eatery.

"We received information about reports of people with gastrointestinal illness that is potentially linked to Bob Chinn's restaurant," department spokeswoman Amy Poore said.

County health officials have been at the restaurant most of the day, talking to employees and going over the place, according to Poore.

Dan Erdman, the manager of Bob Chinn's, said the restaurant got two or three calls from customers and then voluntarily closed in the morning. He says the restaurant has spent the day cleaning.

Erdman and the health department both said the source of illness has not been found, nor has it been definitively linked to Bob Chinn's.

The manager of Bob Chinn's says the restaurant is expected to re-open Wednesday morning.
