Rose Out For Monday's Game Against Memphis
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Derrick Rose, hobbled by a nagging toe injury, will not play today against the Memphis Grizzlies.
John Lucas will start at point guard for the Bulls.
A sprained toed forced Rose to miss last week's game against the Washington Wizards, but he came back to play over the weekend against the Celtics on Friday (39 minutes) and the Raptors on Saturday (41 minutes).
Today's game was a homecoming of sorts for the league's most valuable player. Rose played college ball at the University of Memphis before jumping to the pros after his freshman year.
"I'm very surprised. And I'm kind of irritated. I want it to go away. But it always finds its way back," Rose told the Chicago Tribune before the game.
Rose came out for pregame warmups to test the injury but appeared to be struggling and was scratched from the lineup.
C.J. Watson, who has been out with an elbow injury since Jan. 1, will play for the Bulls today.
