Forte Plans To Play In Pro Bowl

(WSCR) After missing four games with a knee injury, Bears running back Matt Forte said he feels completely recovered and will play in the Pro Bowl if he is cleared.

"I'm doing fine," Forte told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "I've completed all of my rehab that I've been doing since I've been injured. I feel really good.

"I have to take a physical before the Pro Bowl and let the doctor assess me. I should be able to go to Hawaii and play in the Pro Bowl. I think I'm 100 percent, so I should be good to go. We'll see what the doctors say."

With his contract expiring once the league year ends, Forte said he hasn't discussed his contract situation with the Bears since mid-season.

"There have been no talks," Forte said. "There havne't been talks since they stopped talking during the season. I guess the deal is that now they have to get in a new GM and then talks start from there. Hopefully with the Senior Bowl and the Draft coming up soon they'll get a GM in pretty fast. Then we'll start talks again."

While the franchise tag seems to be the most likely option for the Bears, Forte hopes that will be a means to an end.

"Hopefully if they use the franchise tag, they use it just to negotiate a contract to keep me from going to another team instead of just using it to keep me here for one more year," Forte said.
