Bears Interview Emery For GM Job

(CBS) The Bears announced Friday they had competed an interview with Phil Emery for the vacant general manager position.

Emery is currently the Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting.

He is the fifth and final candidate to interview this week. Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht interviewed on Monday, Chargers player personnel director Jimmy Raye interviewed on Tuesday, Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross went Wednesday and Tim Ruskell, Bears director of player personnel, interviewed on Thursday.

The Bears reportedly will not interview any more candidates.

According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, Emery is the favorite among the candidates.

Before joining the Chiefs, Emery worked as an area scout for the Bears from 1998 to 2004.

The Garden City, Michigan native started his career at the U.S. Naval Academy, as the director of strength and conditioning services and an associate professor.
