Man 'Addicted To Child Porn' Thanks Cops For Arrest

JOLIET (CBS) -- A southwest suburban man "addicted to child porn" thanked police for arresting him Thursday after they caught him seeking sex with children and teens on Craigslist, prosecutors said.

Brandon J. Bergthold, 25, of Frankfort, has been charged with indecent solicitation and traveling to meet a minor.

Will County prosecutors told Judge Marzell Richardson on Friday that Bergthold posted more than 117 messages on the Craigslist website looking for sex with minors, women who want to be raped, and "hermaphrodite sex."

They also said he drove to an address on East Lincoln Highway in New Lenox hoping to have sex with two young girls. They turned out to be the non-existent 6-year-old daughter and 11-year-old cousin of an undercover police officer's fake online persona.

Prosecutors said Bergthold wanted one of the girls to wear diapers.

Bergthold was nabbed by the Cook County Child Exploitation Unit and the Will County Sheriff's Dept., officials said.

He was ordered held on $750,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court Feb. 17.
