Cubs Sign Veteran Reliever Trever Miller

(CBS) The Cubs have agreed to a minor league deal with veteran left-handed Trever Miller.

Miller received an invite to the Cubs major league spring training camp and will have an opportunity to make the big league club before opening day.

Miller, 38, is 18-17 with 11 saves and a 4.18 ERA in 694 major league appearances. He spent parts of last season with St. Louis, Toronto and Boston, combining to go 0-1 with one save and a 3.80 ERA in 48 relief appearances. He ended the season with the Red Sox, where Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein was working at the time.
