Fitzgerald: Forte Deserves A Long-Term Deal

(WSCR) While placing the franchise tag on Bears running back Matt Forte seems like the logical solution for the Bears, that idea is not so popular among current NFL players.

"No, that's not right," Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald told The Boers and Bernstein Show. "You want him to have a long-term deal. He's been a great football player. He's done terrific in the community. He's everything that you would ask for in a franchise running back."

Though there appears to be a surplus of running backs in the NFL, Fitzgerald said Forte is unlike than the rest.

"He's a different guy," Fitzgerald said. "He's been injury-free pretty much his whole career. He does it in the back field. He does it on the ground. He does it in the passing game. He's good on blitz pick up. You saw a significant drop when the Bears lost him this season, obviously they lost Jay Cutler as well. I mean, Matt, he accounts for 50 percent of the offense. He's irreplaceable."
