2 Men Wounded In Separate West Side Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were seriously wounded within 10 minutes of each other early Sunday in separate shootings on the West Side.

The first happened about 1:49 a.m. when a 24-year-old sitting on the front steps of a house in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street was shot by someone driving by in a light-colored sedan, police said.

He was shot in the neck and taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The second shooting happened about 7 minutes later in the 1500 block of South Pulaski Road, police said. A 27-year-old man was standing in the street when he heard shots and realized he'd been shot in the abdomen.

He, too, was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

No one is in custody in either shooting, and area detectives are investigating.
