Sears Holdings To Close 5 Illinois Stores

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Sears Holdings now says it's closing five stores in Illinois after getting hefty tax breaks from the state to keep its corporate headquarters in Hoffman Estates.

The stores to be shuttered are a Sears in Alton, a Sears Grand/Essentials in McHenry and three K-Marts -- in Oak Lawn, Zion and Peru.

The closings are part of a bigger plan to trim losses and raise cash following poor holiday sales.

Sears has more than 4,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
