(CBS) Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews did not travel with the team to Ottawa Thursday and will miss Friday’s game against the Senators.

The center is dealing with concussion-like symptoms and will miss his sixth straight game.

Head coach Joel Quenneville did not rule out the possibility of Toews joining the team later in the three-game road trip that includes a game in Detroit Sunday and a game in St. Louis Tuesday.

Meanwhile, defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson did travel with the Blackhawks to Canada, but was ruled out for Friday’s game. The hope is that he’ll be ready for Sunday’s game against the Red Wings. He is also dealing with concussion-like symptoms.

Ray Emery will start in goal for the Blackhawks against the Senators.
