Man Stabbed Following Argument In Longwood Manor

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police said a man was stabbed in the back Saturday morning after a verbal dispute with another man in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

A verbal altercation broke out about 6:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of South Loomis Street between the victim and offender, who was walking his dog at the time, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. That escalated into a physical confrontation and the victim was stabbed in the lower back, Mirabelli said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, in "guarded but stable" condition, Mirabelli said.

Police have one person in custody who they have been questioning, but no charges had been announced as of about 12:30 p.m.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
