Rash Of Strong-Armed Robberies Reported In Canaryville, Fuller Park
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are warning South Side residents of an increase in strong-armed robberies in the Canaryville and Fuller Park neighborhoods.
The robbers approach people walking or getting in or out of their vehicles and take their property by force, according to a community alert from Central Area detectives. No weapons were displayed in any of the incidents.
The robberies happened about 7:05 p.m. in the 300 block of East 51st Street; about 8:20 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Blackstone Avenue; about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 29 in the 4500 block of South State Street and 9 a.m. in the 5500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, the alert said.
The descriptions of the robbers vary but are generally described as 18- to 25-year-old black men wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, police said.
