Report: Illini's Beckman Uses Porridge For Punishment
(WSCR) New Illinois head football coach Tim Beckman is serious about his players obeying his rules.
At the team's "All-In Banquet," Beckman gave those players who followed the rules - arriving to classes 10 minutes early and never missing a rep during winter workouts - a banquet of steak and eggs. Those who didn't were given porridge.
"I think it was a little bit of an eye-opening experience for some of them," Beckman told the Chicago Tribune. "We ask our players to be above and beyond … and compete at a level that we think is a championship level."
The report indicates 21 players earned the steak and eggs.
