Warm And Pleasant Tuesday, Summerlike Wednesday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The skies will be sunny and the temperatures warm and pleasant on Tuesday, but when Wednesday comes around, you might be fooled into thinking it's June.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says we should expect beautiful sunshine throughout the afternoon Wednesday, with a high of 66 for most areas. As of 11:20 a.m., it was already 60 degrees at O'Hare and Midway international airports, and 61 in Gary, Ind.

The high will climb to the mid-60s for areas away from the lake, but lakefront neighborhoods will remain cooler as they are affected by a lake breeze.

The overnight low is 51 degrees, and when Wednesday comes around, Glaros says we can expect pretty much the perfect combination of conditions to make March feel downright summerlike.

A high-pressure system now over the area will settle to the south and east, as southwest winds blow warm air in the direction of the Chicago area. A warm front will hover to the north, and skies will be sunny all day.

The forecast high for the day Wednesday is 78 degrees, although some areas to the south could even see temperatures in the low 80s.

If the temperature does reach 78, it will break a record for the day. The standing record of 77 degrees for March 14 was set in 1995.

And for the week to come, there's nothing to complain about. The high for Thursday is 70, Friday 69, and Saturday 70 again with some rain in the forecast. On Sunday, the high is 72, on Monday 69.
