14-Year-Old Critically Injured In NW Side Stabbing

CHICAGO (STMW) - A 14-year-old boy was critically injured when another young man he had been having an argument with stabbed him in the back in the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood Friday night.

About 9:25 p.m. the victim and the offender, who is between 18 - 20 years old, were engaged in a verbal altercation in an alley in the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

"At some point the victim gets stabbed in the back and the offender flees on foot through the alley," Perez said.

The victim was taken by Chicago Fire Department ambulance to Childen's Memorial Hospital, Perez said. At the time he was taken to the hospital he was listed in critical condition, according to Perez.

Area North detectives are investigating.
