West Suburban Mayor Hospitalized After Heart Attack

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (STMW) -- West Chicago Mayor Mike Kwasman is undergoing treatment at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield after suffering a heart attack Saturday, according to a statement from the town.

Kwasman was alderman of West Chicago's Fifth Ward for six years prior to being elected mayor in the April, 2007 election. He was re-elected in 2009.

Kwasman's record of public service also includes; trustee for Fire Protection District, Commissioner of Plan Commission, Environmental Commission and DuPage County Sheriff's Merit Commission.

He owns and manages his own business and has been a resident of West Chicago for 23 years, according to the West Chicago website.

No further details on his heart attack or condition have been released.
