3 Teachers Hospitalized After Pepper Spray Blast At School

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three teachers were taken to the hospital from a West Side elementary school Friday morning, after someone sprayed pepper spray at the school.

The Fire Department called an Emergency Medical Services Plan 1 – which automatically sends five ambulances – and a Level 1 Hazardous Materials response for the incident at Luther Burbank Elementary School, 2035 N. Mobile Ave.

Someone shot a blast pepper spray in the school, and two people were taken to area hospitals, officials said.

About 1,100 students attend the school. Some children were checked out, but none were injured.

The school was not evacuated.
