Axelrod Sent Down To Charlotte; Stults, Quintana Join White Sox

DETROIT (CBS) -- After starting Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers, White Sox pitcher Dylan Axelrod was sent down to Triple-A Charlotte.

Eric Stults' contract was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte and he will start the second game of Monday's doubleheader in Cleveland. Jose Quintana is also in Cleveland after being recalled from Double-A Birmingham to join the bullpen. Teams are allowed to carry 26 active players for doubleheaders.

Axelrod, 26, had no decisions in three games for the Sox this year, including one start, compiling a 2.70 ERA. He was recalled from Charlotte on April 27, to take Jesse Crain's spot in the bullpen, after Crain went down with an oblique strain.
