Morel was diagnosed with a lumbar back strain. He has been battling the issue on-and-off since spring training. The move is retroactive to May 18.

Hudson, 34, was released by the San Diego Padres on May 17. He hit .211 with five triples, one home run, 11 RBI and three stolen bases in 35 games before being released.
