Updated 6/9/12 at 3:47 p.m.

SHOREWOOD, Ill. (STMW) - A Plainfield motorcyclist died in a crash with a sport utility vehicle Friday afternoon on Interstate 80 near southwest suburban Shorewood.

State police responded to the crash at 3:31 p.m. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-80 just east of Interstate 55.

The larger vehicle had been traveling on the ramp from northbound I-55 to eastbound I-80 when it lost control and struck the motorcycle, an Illinois State Police Joliet District sergeant said.

The motorcyclist, Juan M. Juarez-Delangel, 25, of Plainfield, was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet where he was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office.

An autopsy Saturday found that he suffered multiple injuries from a motorcycle accident, according to the coroner's office.

State Police continue to investigate the crash.
