Charges In Fatal Shooting Of 17-Year-Old In South Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old has been charged with the murder last week of another 17-year-old in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 10:05 p.m. Wednesday when 17-year-old Romelo Golden was shot in the neck in the 8900 block of South Brandon Avenue, police said.

Golden, of the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy found he suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Keon Tolliver, 17, of the 8700 block of South Exchange Avenue has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in Golden's death, police said Sunday.

Police said they believed the shooting may have been gang-related. Court information for Tolliver was not immediately available Sunday.
