Human Foot Found Under Amtrak Train In Rail Yard

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Workers found a human foot underneath an Amtrak train while performing maintenance in a rail yard near the Chicago River's South Branch.

Police said the workers found the foot around 10 p.m. Tuesday in the yard, in the 1600 block of South Lumber Street.

Police believe the foot belongs to a man who was fatally struck by a train in Racine, Wis. last month.

Authorities could not locate the man's foot after the collision, police said, and it might have become wedged under the train until it arrived at the rail yard on Tuesday.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office is evaluating the foot, a spokeswoman said.
