Man Charged With Murder Of 77-Year-Old Man

CHICAGO (STMW) - A 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder two weeks ago of a 77-year-old man in his South Side home.

At 10:25 p.m. on June 26, Donald Ellens, 77, was found dead in his home in the 9000 block of South East End Avenue by relatives who had not heard from him for some time, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Ellens had multiple stab wounds over his body, police said.

On Saturday police announced that 24-year-old Terrance M. Olden, of the 7100 block of South Constance, has been charged with first degree murder and armed robbery in connection to Ellens' death. Olden was arrested on Thursday, police said.

Police Saturday would not offer many details on what happened between the two, but "it appears this was not random," police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. "They knew each other."

Olden is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing in court at 26th and California on Sunday.
