Teenage Boy Pulled From Lake In 'Very Poor' Condition

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition Friday morning after he was pulled from Lake Michigan.

Dive teams were called to the lake near Oakwood Boulevard around 10 p.m. Thursday, after someone reported a boy struggling in the water.

The Fire Department managed deployed a full rescue unit, including a helicopter and a dive team. They succeeded in getting the boy to shore, and he was rushed to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.

The Fire Department said the boy was in serious to critical condition at the time he was taken to the hospital, and described his condition as "very poor," the wire reported.

There was no word Friday morning as to why he was in the water.
