Lake Forest Native Wins Gold At London Olympics

(WSCR) Lake Forest native and Northwestern graduate Matt Grevers won the gold medal Monday in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2012 London Olympics.

Grevers' winning time was 52.16, an Olympic record.

Grevers also holds two Illinois state high school records: the 50-yard free stroke with a time of :19.83, and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of :48.77.

US swimmer Nick Thoman won silver, and Japan's Ryosuke Irie took bronze.
