Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus To Audition For Clowns In Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) -- With unemployment running north of eight percent, one rather unconventional employer says it has openings for the right people.

As WBBM Newsradio's John Waelti reports, the employer in question is Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the big top giant is expecting a good turnout when it holds its first audition for circus clowns in Chicago in four years later this month.

There is none of the usual pablum about being proactive or detail-oriented in this job requisition. The only requirements, according to Ringling Bros., are "an overactive funnybone and a heart the size of Alaska."

And it gets even better – previous clowning experience is not required.

The audition is Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joffrey Ballet dance studios at 10 E. Randolph St. downtown.
