White Sox Purchase Contract Of Dewayne Wise, Place John Danks On DL

CHICAGO (CBS) - The Chicago White Sox have purchased the contract of outfielder Dewayne Wise from Class AAA Charlotte and placed left-handed pitcher John Danks on the disabled list.

Wise, 34, will wear uniform No. 28. He takes the spot of Paul Konerko, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a concussion.

He hit .161 (5-31) in seven games with Charlotte, and before that .262 (16-61) in 56 games with the Yankees this season.

Wise played in 141 games with the Sox in 2008-09. He preserved Mark Buehrle's perfect game on July 23, 2009 vs. Tampa Bay by making an over-the-wall catch to deny Gabe Kapler of a home run leading off the ninth inning.
