Cloudy And Chilly For Rest Of Monday, But Sun Returns Tuesday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Looking back on the beautiful, sunny skies on Saturday as Chicagoans enjoyed the Bud Billiken Parade and the North Halsted Street Market Days, this may seem like the worst kind of Monday.
Why, you may find yourself sitting at work singing the refrain of that old Mamas and the Papas Song – "Every other day of the week is fine, but whenever Monday comes, you can hear me crying all of the time."
But don't worry too much. Before you know it, you'll be singing "Put on a Happy Face," because gray skies are indeed going to clear up. And summery temperatures – conditions that we took for granted since about May or so – will soon return too.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says for the rest of the day Monday, we're stuck with clouds and the occasional shower or sprinkle. A thunderstorm is likely south of Interstate 80, and the temperature will only hit 73.
The temperatures were still in the 60s during the midday hours.
But conditions are expected to clear up in the early morning hours, after an low of 63 with sprinkles and patchy fog. Skies will be sunny on Tuesday as the high hits 82.
The high climbs to a seasonable 87 on Wednesday, but falls back to 80 on Thursday as a cold front plows in and causes thunderstorms and a drop in temperature.
By Friday, the temperature is back down at 72. But conditions will be just fine for the Air and Water Show this weekend, with sunny skies and a high of 73 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday.
