Bright, Beautiful And Cooler By The Lake For The Rest Of The Day

CHICAGO (CBS) -- In a 180-degree contrast from Monday, conditions will be bright and beautiful for the rest of the day Tuesday, with sunshine and comfortable temperatures.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 75 degrees at O'Hare and Midway international airports, 76 at Waukegan, and 72 at Joliet and Kankakee.

While the day began with fog, sunshine with spotty clouds will prevail for the rest of the day as high-pressure moves in and takes control. The low pressure which brought the rain on Monday has moved far to the east.

A breeze off the lake will keep conditions cooler along the lakefront. The temperature is expected to top out at 76 in Kenosha, 77 in Waukegan and Evanston, 77 in Gary, Ind., and 76 in LaPorte, Ind.

Farther inland, the temperature will hit 82 in St. Charles, Naperville and Tinley Park, 83 in Morris, and 82 in Kankakee.

The low drops to 63 overnight with light winds. The winds turn southwest on Wednesday as the high climbs to 85.

On Thursday, the high will hit 84 with a chance of thunderstorms. The high drops back to 71 on Friday, 73 on Saturday, 74 on Sunday and 77 on Monday.
