Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Car Outside Roseland Community Hospital

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday morning, right outside Roseland Community Hospital on the city's Far South Side.

Around 7:05 a.m. Friday, police were notified that a person was hit by a car in the 0-99 block of West 111th Street, near the hospital police said.

Paramedics took the person to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where trauma victims on the South Side are usually transported, according to Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight.

The pedestrian—a male whose age was not immediately available—later died from his injuries, police said. His identity was not available late Friday morning.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit sent to the scene to collect details.
