Man Electrocuted While Taking Down Copper Wire In Brighton Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An autopsy has ruled that a man died of accidental electrocution when he was shocked by copper wires he was trying to take down in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

Police responded to the 2800 block of West 47th Street at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday, and found Emmett Ducksworth, 52, injured, authorities said.

Ducksworh was apparently trying to take copper wiring out of the building and didn't know the wires were live, authorities said.

He was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A Wednesday autopsy found Ducksworth died of electrocution, and the manner of death was an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.
