Partly Sunny Skies, Highs In Upper 80s For Afternoon

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The showers Thursday morning have fizzled out, and the clouds will give way to some sunshine and seasonably hot temperatures.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says as of 11:20 a.m., the temperature had already hit 79 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, 81 at Midway, 82 in Gary, Ind., and 84 in Kankakee. Winds were from the southeast at 9 mph.

The clouds now hovering over the area will give way to partly sunny skies, as the high climbs to 88 degrees. Winds will build to 15-20 mph from the south.

But it might not be so pleasant to be outside for everyone. An air quality alert is in place for Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties along the lakeshore in Northwest Indiana, due to elevated ozone levels.

Overnight , the low drops to 68 as the winds continue to blow in from the south at 10-15 mph.

The high climbs to steamy 91 on Friday, and 90 on Saturday. Storms are in the forecast Sunday as the high tops out at 87, followed by a high of 83 Monday, 80 Tuesday, and 83 again Wednesday.
