CHICAGO (CBS) — A truck tractor caught fire on the Dan Ryan Expressway Friday morning, causing major backups in the inbound lanes.

CBS 2’s David Morrison reports the semi-truck tractor, which was not hauling a trailer, caught fire in the northbound local lanes just south of 35th Street, in the shadow of U.S. Cellular Field.

The truck tractor was off to the right shoulder, but Morrison the local lanes could be shut down as firefighters put out the flames. By 6:30 a.m., only one lane of the local lanes was getting by.

As of 6:15 a.m., the inbound local lanes on the Dan Ryan were backing up as far south as past 43rd Street. A gapers block was also forming in the southbound lanes.

There were no reports of injuries.
