(CBS) –A U.S. Paralympian from the Chicago region is bringing home the gold from London.
Joseph Berenyi, an Aurora native now living in Oswego, this week earned a gold medal in the 3-km, individual pursuit cycling race. He finished less than 1 second ahead of the silver medalist.

Earlier in the day, he set a new world record in the qualifying round.
Berenyi, 43, lost his right arm and left kneecap in a construction accident 18 years ago.
“It’s a dream come true, a big dream just to make the team,” he said.
