CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Police have issued a community alert about the attempted kidnapping Tuesday of a girl on the Southwest Side.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports, police say the 14-year-old girl was walking at 45th Street and Kedzie Avenue, in the Brighton Park neighborhood, when a man asked her in Spanish to go with him and grabbed for her backpack.

The girl took off running.

The suspect is believed to have been between 30 and 40 years old with an olive complexion, a black mustache, and missing front teeth.

He was wearing a puffy black jacket and a Chicago Bulls skullcap.
