2 Children, Firefighter Injured In Little Village Blaze

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two children and a firefighter were hospitalized early Thursday, after a fire in a basement in the Little Village neighborhood.

The Fire Department raised a still-and-box alarm around 3:30 a.m. for the fire that started in the basement of the two-story building at 2801 S. Kedvale Ave. The fire also spread to a neighboring building.

The Fire Department ripped open the roof in the building where the fire started, and sent three hose lines toward the roof.

A 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were taken to St. Anthony Hospital in good condition. A firefighter was also taken from the scene to Rush University Medical Center, also in good condition.

The cause of the fire was not immediately learned.
