Cooper: Ventura Is Manager Of The Year

(WSCR) Through his first 145 games as a big league manager, Robin Ventura has lead a team that some projected to win a total of just 65 games to a record of 79-66, while maintaining a first-place position for most of the season.

For that, White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper believes Ventura has out-managed the other 29 managers in the league.

"Robin, as far as I'm concerned, is the Manager of the Year," Cooper told The Mully and Hanley Show. "With everything that's gone on with us, losing our starting pitcher, all the rookie pitchers, the turnarounds of (Alex) Rios, (Adam) Dunn and how we've come together as a team ... we've got 'x' amount of games left to try to nail it down, and nothing has kind of stood in our way, it's been a grind and it's going to continue to be a grind."
